Pick a swop window and register your interest. The first is Kings Birthday long weekend June 6–8, open to renters in Sydney and Melbourne. If you're up for a mini adventure on those dates then register and see what comes.
The match
We pair you with compatible swoppers based on suburb, home type and what you're both looking for. You'll get a brief on each match - broad details about their place, their neighbourhood and a bit about who they are.
The call
You choose who to chat to. It's a video call. You see their place, they see yours (just like a work meeting where you're distracted peeping on someone's dining room). Have a chat. Feel it out. Think of it as a vibe check. If the kitchen is too messy or you just don't click, say no. No fee, no hard feelings, no swop.
The swop
Bingo! It's a match. The swop is on. You're in their place while they're in yours. We'll send you a swop agreement and details to chat through together. You're friends by now, so it's between you to sort out. You've got enough lords in your life, so we're staying right out of it.
Err, my stuff
The trust mechanism is the swop itself. You've both got skin in the game. You're in their home while they're in yours. Neither of you is going anywhere near a bad decision.
What it costs
Free for our first wave of swoppers. We'll get to money later.
Your lease
People have acquaintances housesit all the time. A swop is similar - short stay, no money exchanged, someone you've met and vetted. Most landlords don't give it a second thought. Check your lease if you want to be sure.
Damage
There's a $5k Swops repair fund for the genuine stuff - red wine on the couch, smashed planter, mystery stain that definitely wasn't there before. Upload before and after photos. If you can't sort it between yourselves, we step in within 48 hours.
